Here at the University of Tulsa, we take great pride in our national reputation as a top tier academic institution with a football program ranked with the NCAA elite. Our performance on the field over the last five years has drawn the attention of potential recruits from all over our country. Tulsa has achieved double digit wins three times while qualifying for 4 bowls and winning three. We live with Championship Expectations here at the University of Tulsa.
The 2011 season was one of the most challenging ever in Tulsa Football history. Loaded with four Top 10 opponents on the schedule, the Hurricane still rolled to an 8 win season and a berth in the Bell Helicopter Armed Forces Bowl.
In 2010, Tulsa finished the year with a 62 – 35 victory over Hawaii to become the Sheraton Hawaii Bowl Champion securing a final national ranking in the top 25. We finished the season with a seven-game winning streak including a dramatic 28 – 27 road win over Notre Dame.
Tulsa Football has a national reputation for prolific offense. Twice in the past 5 years the Golden Hurricane finished as the nation’s number one unit for Total Offense. Our system features explosive playmakers in a creatively balanced offense. We have featured several NCAA record holders, Freshmen All-Americans and Conference MVP’s.
In 2011, Tulsa Football established itself as THE DEFENSE in our conference while developing a national reputation for takeaways and an attacking style. In 2011, Tulsa finished #1 in our conference in Scoring Defense and for the first time in conference history, 3 Tulsa defenders were honored as Conference Player of the Week. Our middle linebacker finished the season ranked #3 nationally in Tackles.
