Dear Prospective Tulsa Golden Hurricane,

Here at the University of Tulsa, we take great pride in having one of the top football programs in the nation.  We are coming off an 11 win season for the second time in the last four years.  Over the last six years, Tulsa has taken its place among the elite programs in the country by having a winning percentage that places us in the Top 20 nationally.  The 2012 season was the best in Tulsa history.  A dominating victory over a Big 12 opponent in the Liberty Bowl capped our memorable season that also included a   C-USA Championship, a Western Division C-USA Championship, 11 exciting wins and a prestigious #25 national ranking.

We had 10 Tulsa players selected for the C-USA All Conference Teams in 2012.  Returning junior running back, Trey Watts, was selected as the MVP and Most Outstanding Offensive Player of the 2012 AutoZone Liberty Bowl.  Watts was also selected as the MVP of the C-USA Championship Game.   Returning junior linebacker, Shawn Jackson, earned the Most Outstanding Defensive Player for the Liberty Bowl.

Defensively, 2012 was a special season for us.  We set school records for Quarterback Sacks and Tackles for Loss.  The Tulsa Defense finished the season ranked #3 and #5 in the Nation in the categories of Quarterback Sacks and Tackles for Loss, respectively.  We were ranked #1 in Conference USA for Total Defense, Quarterback Sacks, Tackles for Loss, and Passing Efficiency Defense.

In 2012, we continued building on Tulsa’s tradition of powerful and exciting offense.  This season was memorable as the Tulsa Offense finished #1 in the Nation for Number of Offensive Plays, #4 in Sacks Allowed and #9 in Rushing Offense.  We have finished #1 in the Nation for Total Offense twice in the last six years.

I am proud to have a coaching staff that continues to reflect our commitment to character and integrity.  Coaching is our calling and our mission is to serve our players to help them become outstanding young men.  We believe in a comprehensive training philosophy for our football program.  We focus on training our players Mentally, Physically and Spiritually/Emotionally.   The University of Tulsa is recognized as one of the top universities in America and we are proud to have both nationally acclaimed reputations in the classroom and on the football field.

If you have any questions, please contact our office at 918-631-2393.  We look forward to seeing you soon and we wish you great success in your season ahead.
